new 5 dollar bill

Today, $5 barely buys a fast-food meal, so it seems odd that the United States Treasury is now unveiling a new version of this bill to foil counterfeiters.

It turns out, though, many of those counterfeit $100s were actually bleached $5s, reprinte d to look like their more lucrative relative. Apparently, the $5 and $100 bill shared the same security marks, which made a counterfeiter's job easier.

The new $5 bill features two watermarks: one to the right of President Lincoln's portrait and a column of three easily visible numeral 5s to the left of the portrait. "This way, the new security features are in distinctly different locations from those on the $100," says Darrin Blackford, a spokesman for the US Secret Service.

haydn porter in howard stern show - photos

18 year old Playboy model, Haydn Porter made her second visit to the Stern Show this morning.

Howard brought in Haydn Porter, a Playboy model, and told her she still looked too young to get naked in the studio.

Haydn admitted that she was 18 and hadn't even slept with that many guys yet. Howard speculated that Haydn must be really tight, telling her she could make a fortune doing Barely Legal porn videos. Haydn noted that she was still a college student and was frequently hit on by older guys, but not interested in doing porn.

Chad Dawson gets a New Opponent

World Boxing Council No. 1-ranked mandatory challenger Adrian “The Shark” Diaconu, scheduled to fight for a title against WBC lightweight champion “Bad” Chad Dawson at ARCO Arena in Sacramento, suffered a training injury on Thursday forcing him to pull out of the Sept. 29 match.

Dangerous light heavyweight knockout artist Epifanio Mendoza (28-4-1, 24 KOs), from Barranquilla, Colombia, has agreed to replace Diaconu and will face Dawson in the Sept. 29 main event.
“This is a dream come true to have the opportunity to fight Chad Dawson for the WBC light heavyweight title,” an obviously enthused Mendoza said after flying into promoter Don King’s Deerfield Beach, Fla., headquarters to sign the match contract this afternoon [Sept. 18]. “I have fought in and won numerous national and continental championships but this will be my first world title fight. I plan on taking the title back to Colombia.”

Fight promoter Don King likened the event to a Rocky movie, but this time it’s for real.

Dan Rather Sues CBS for $70 Million

Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather sued his former employer today for $70 million, claiming that the company failed to properly investigate the handling of a discredited story on President Bush's National Guard service and did not give Rather enough airtime -- in violation of his contract.

Rather claims that CBS marginalized within the network and because of its own political agenda intentionally sought to tarnish his reputation.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. gets No. 88, Mountain Dew for 2008.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s new look is official: his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet will carry No. 88 next season, as well as sponsorship from Mountain Dew, Amp Energy drink and the National Guard. Earnhardt will say goodbye to his famous No. 8, which will remain the property of Dale Earnhardt Inc. when Junior switches teams. Aric Almirola and Mark Martin will share duty in the No. 8 Chevy for DEI next year. Meanwhile, long-time Earnhardt sponsor Budweiser will sponsor Evernham Motorsports' Kasey Kahne in 2008.

"I never thought a car number would create this much excitement," said Rick Hendrick. "Trying to do it and keep it quiet from the rest of the world until you have it all together, it was probably the toughest thing I've ever done in motorsports."

Attempts to pry No. 8--which Junior has used since entering Cup in 2000--away from DEI owner Teresa Earnhardt were unsuccessful; instead, Robert Yates Racing asked NASCAR to transfer its retired 88 to Hendrick for NASCAR's most popular driver.

Hendrick not worried about adding Earnhardt Jr. to fold

With Dale Earnhardt Jr. set to come on board at Hendrick Motorsports in 2008, he'll join an already incredibly successful program in which Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson have combined to win five Cup championships and 108 races going into Sunday's event at Dover. Can it work? Will there simply be too many roosters in the hen house?

Hendrick has a long history of mixing strong personalities. The outspoken Northerner Geoffrey Bodine was already a fixture at Hendrick Motorsports in the late 1980s when not one, but two outspoken characters joined the organization. Tim Richmond dominated the sport in 1986, a year before Darrell Waltrip entered the picture.
